Character NAME: Nova Prime
Canon & MEDIUM: Transformers IDW Ongoing (Comic Series)
Canon PULL-POINT: At the research stage of his population augmentation program. So about 8-10 million years ago from the present day*
Character AGE: 1-2 million years at his current canon point.
Character ABILITIES:
About ten million years ago, on the robotic world of Cybertron, there was a civil war (They have a lot of these) due to the departure of the benign influence of the ancestors of their species, the Knights of Cybertron. Nova Prime emerges after untold years of fighting and unites both factions under his reign.
After the war ended, he gathered his inner circle of advisors and old friends to search for Crystal City, the former home of the Guiding Hand, their gods. The group found the city underground with its guardian, Omega Supreme, standing watch. Nova and his group convinced him to join them in raising the city and making it a symbolic landmark for the Golden Age that they then worked to bring.
During this time, Cybertron enjoyed great peace, prosperity, and scientific advancement. There were various off-world colonies and peacekeeping missions performed by the Primal Vanguard. However, it would not last, as Nova began to see his neighbors as simply new lands to conquer, much to Omega Supreme's displeasure. Obsessed with an ancient prophecy left by their gods which stated "all shall be one", he interpreted it as meaning that he should unite all worlds and species under one empire and one ideal - his own.
Nova began to make plans for the Expansion by creating the first Ark. The Ark was a starship that was stated to be for the purpose of exploration and trade, but would actually be the initial steps in his grand plan. Shortly afterwards, Vector Sigma's pulse waves began to slow down. This meant that Cybertron and its moons were producing less and less sparks (robot souls). Nova panicked, predicting that they eventually would stop altogether and leave him with a finite amount of Cybertronians with which to enact his plans. HOW COULD HE BE SUPREME SPACE EMPEROR OF THE UNIVERSE THEN!?!
Turning to his chief engineer, Tyrest, he tasked him with leading a team of scientists to begin research on how to tap into the life-energy of the Creation Matrix. It was titled as a 'population augmentation' program, and the public was told that it was research into 'spark-splicing', using one spark to ignite another. Saying you were going to drain energy from your creator god's mystical artifact for your own plan would have gone less well.
Oh yes! And then his bird butt gets dropped in Exsilium.
Character PERSONALITY:
While Primes often are seen as bastions of the Cybertronian ideal, a lot of them are just assholes with a good marketing team. Nova's most defining character trait throughout most of his life wasn't his kindness(ha) or his wisdom, it was his insatiable ambition and passion. No matter how far he's gone in terms of success, he always sought to continue expanding what he'd built up. In his early years as Prime, this passionate nature appeared to be largely beneficial to Cybertron. It helped end an ancient civil war and spur on the Golden Age, bringing the great technological advancement and exploration that came with it. However, passion quickly became hunger for power as his goals turned outwards to other star systems. One could call it simple greed, but it's more about fulfilling his destiny and leaving a legacy that would never be forgotten. Something worthy of his title.
How did it get that way? Well. Group together being chosen as the single bearer of a mystical object linked to your species' creator-god, given near absolute free reign over your own planet, and be almost universally admired and respected, and you'll end up with the massive ego Nova has. Although it's shown that his hubris doesn't become particularly problematic until around the launch of the Ark, he expects reverence, if not awe, of the people around him. It's just how he's always been treated. Any form of severe disrespect will be sure to tick him off, and he can have quite a bit of a temper. A Prime in ancient Cybertronian society is not only the leader of their people, a Prime is considered a conduit for their god. A piece of Heaven on Earth, and Nova can definitely be considered a believer of the gods and traditions of his world.
His pride is his greatest character flaw, and it's what ultimately led to his failure and fall as a Prime. It's also the source of a lot of his more problematic views. He suffers from a pretty severe case of Space Racism. He finds most non-Cybertronian species to be inferior and in need of guidance to what he considers an ideal. It's part of his motivation for wanting an empire under his name. Not that he'd never work with other species if it was in his own interest to, but he can be a bit of an asshole about it.
Prejudices aside, Nova typically holds himself to his own sense of honor. He's not going to outright lie or attempt to deceive someone in most face to face conversation. He's forward because that's all he's ever needed to be. If he fights someone, it is going to be direct and confrontational. His opponent will know exactly why he's trying to defeat them. Nova has a special white-hot rage reserved for anyone that chooses to deceive or betray him for their own gain. The guy came back from the dead for the singular purpose of vindictively murdering his second in command for shooting him in the back. It's just a really, really bad idea to double cross him.
That said, he does consider the bigger picture in his actions, and if that dictate he withhold or hide information, he'll do it. Deceit in the name of the greater good is not considered dishonorable, and the motive is the sole differentiating factor here.
Of course, while he can come off as quite the robot nut, he's far from an incompetent leader. His inner circle was comprised almost entirely of advisors ("old friends", sure.) that could allow him to make the most informed decisions, and he made sure to get second opinions from all of them. He knew how to word his programs of conquest to keep the population on his side, and he'd managed to keep the planet at peace and prosperous for all the time he'd been in power. Basically, he's not all hot air and superstition and rank. He has a handle on politics, how to keep a good image of himself and how to actually run a governing body. He'll know when to be a charismatic leader and when to be forceful. While his style of leading will probably feel antiquated or old-fashioned, the basic skills are still there.
Ultimately, Nova's loyalties lie with Cybertron and his vision for its future. Any obstructions to that goal are just obstacles to be overcome, or be destroyed. Thoroughly.
» EXSILIUM INFORMATION
Chosen WEAPON:
Nova will probably want to infuse the Creation Matrix with the technology described to him because he's getting fond of making bad decisions at his point in his life. Its reservoir of energy will grow as it evolves.
The Matrix begins by following its own will, only acting when it deems fit, often only on its host or other members of his species deemed worthy. It will develop to nurture any form of life, organic included, and will act under Nova's instruction.
In its fully maxed out state, its life-energy should be able to heal all afflictions and injuries of all beings that were alive at one point, organic or mechanical, and on command. He wont be particularly eager to spend its energy on any foreign species though, because he's just a dick like that.
That said, Nova will find that the Matrix will have a stronger influence on him the more it evolves, making it more difficult to act like an outright asshole without feeling an increasingly heavier burden on his state of mind. It will be a much tighter moral leash, much to his disdain.
The tangible change to Nova will be an increasingly potent boost to his natural abilities and weapons, which is just a side effect of holding the artifact and its energy in his body. This boon can be transferred to another Cybertronian that shows matrix affinity, should he pass it down to them. It can also be lost if the artifact is removed from his body.
Character INVENTORY:
First PERSON:
[The voice that comes through is clear, concise, and well-practiced in public speaking. There's a slight metallic flange to it, matching the robotic life form it belonged to.]
People of Exsilium, I am Nova Prime, leader of Cybertron.
I have been informed that you are in need of guidance and defense from an evil that's consumed most of your world.
I am experienced in the ways of governance and war, and will be glad to provide both services where I am needed in the absence of my Primal Vanguard.
Know that this threat to both my world and yours will not be taken lightly.
Third PERSON:
The shift from the glittering heights of Crystal City to the dilapidated collection of stone and concrete of his captors was a sharp one. While off-world expeditions were hardly new experiences for the likes of Nova Prime, viewing the scene in its entirety brought disgust and pity to his mind. Poor creatures, unable to do the simple task of governing themselves without bringing their cities to ruin. Left to wallow in a mix of the primitive elements of their world and the decaying bones of their ancestor's achievements.
Nova knew exactly why he'd been sought, and while the technological limitations and ambiguity regarding his return to his homeland had brought great ire to him (as the members greeting him found), he accepted the task. He'd saved his own people from destroying themselves, and he could repeat the action if he desired. This planet would be but the first of many to be uplifted by his presence.
Of course, while altruism (however forced) was something expected of all Primes, Nova was always of a more ... practical mind, despite his respect for tradition. A brief mention of the United Earth's plan to expand to other worlds was what truly got him to change his opinion of Exsilium's fate. True or not, he'd not risk his own world be affected by the blindsided experiments of such a short-sighted species. This world saw fit to bring him here and threaten what was his. It may take time, years, before his aspirations for for Earth would begin to burgeon, but time was something he could easily spare.

Character ABILITIES:
- Cybertronian: Roughly 30'-35' giant robot that can turn into an ~ancient space truck~ with a tanker made of his wings and jetpack. It probably looks something like this. Cybertronians tend to be irritatingly difficult to kill, they'll usually survive most injuries short of something that directly snuffs out their spark. Living through decapitations and accidental atmospheric re-entry isn't so out of place in a Cybertronian lifespan. On the flipside, they run solely on energon and cannot consume other fuels. Fun Fact: Ancient Cybertronians like Nova have a very difficult time processing high-grade energon (robot booze).
- Wings: Not used for flight. They're actually weapons. Each "plume" is a fusion cannon of considerable firepower. There's eight plumes total, so eight cannons. Don't ask why he needed these in a time of peace, they have a lot of wow factor ok. He also has a jet pack for short flights or bursts, but nothing prolonged.
- Energy Manipulation: Lightning-y energy fired from his hands/body. He uses it to flash fry other robots. It's only been used about at about medium distance(for him), so I'll assume that's its maximum range.

Character INVENTORY:
- Creation Matrix: ~Glowy life-orb of the space robot gods.~ It has healing and life-giving properties and is one of the centerpieces of their religion. On the practical end, it can produce robot souls (sparks) and repair Cybertronian biology beyond normal medical means. It's important to note that it bears a form of sentience that allows it to choose when to use these abilities, call to Cybertronians with matrix affinity and merge with them of it's own accord under extreme circumstances. Its life energy can also be used as an ample power source (it was used to power a starship's quantum jump across the galaxy).
